California Pictures

Unfortunately I did not get to go over Spring Break, Kimberly did as an early graduation present. While I was loading pictures onto the computer I thought I would share a few she took.

It is nice to have her home, soon she will be starting her own journey I am both sad and excited at the same time.

WOW the weekend went by way too fast! Saturday was a blur...Roller Derby....cook out/party...coloring Easter Eggs.

We celebrated Jonathan's birthday with a cookout too bad the weather didn't cooperate.

I have been finishing up some of my sign orders...here is one for a grandfather for his birthday.

Home Again!

So Kimberly made it home! I really missed her! She arrived home about 7, I had derby so I didn't get to see her until about 11. Her luggage arrived at midnight. They almost missed their connecting flight due to weather so they made it just in time but their baggage didn't. She is so thoughtful and brought us all little gifts. She bought me an awesome ring ( a big flower, I LOVE large rings) and an Eiffel Tower bag. Now that I have my camera back I can get back into picture taking!
~
Derby was great, of course! Hard work and at times a mental game but I made it through and ready to do it all again Saturday! I am meeting a girl tonight who is selling all her derby gear. She was in the newbie class last year but could keep up with it as a single mom. I am hoping all fits as it will be a great deal!
~
I came across a local artist that has painted knee socks! I am ordering some for Derby, I can't wait, here is her website. Hoping she will join us the The Chicks show this year!

We welcomed our one and only baby boy. He was always a happy content baby. Loved his big sister and eventually warmed up to his little sister too. He always has had the sweetest smile!

Jonathan has always had a big heart.

Here he is with his freshly shaved head for St Baldrick's Day.

We are so proud of Jonathan and all that he has accomplished and he is only just beginning. Now we have to survive teaching him how to drive, LOL

Weekend Recap

I can't believe how quickly the weekend came and went. I didn't get everything accomplished that I wanted to but that's OK, today is a new day. ~ I did finish up these side tables for a client in Albany that is redoing their guest bedroom. The comforter was hers and she wanted a green to compliment it. This color really works with it, unfortunately my camera phone is horrible. I think you get the idea though. ~
The joys if living in upstate NY the weather is still crappy as you can see from the picture, I am so ready for Spring and warm weather.

~

Roller Derby on Saturday wasn't quite as torturous. My lap time improved, however I think I may have only skated 4 instead of 5??? So I had 1 minute 28 seconds (I think) I wasn't counting laps, I thought they were so who really knows. I guess I will find out Wednesday if I have improved at all. I feel like I have improved in all the other areas, well except cross overs. I will get those sooner or later, I hope!

Altered Life - Day 4

So I know I said yesterday I wasn't too sore. I guess I spoke too soon! I decided to go to the gym and do my usual elliptical workout. I only made in 30 minutes. Man now my body is sore from my belly button to my knees. This should make for an interesting practice tomorrow! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My oldest daughter want to California for Spring Break. She left Wednesday and I have only spoke to her a few times. Today she was going to Alcatraz and San Francisco. I am sure she is having a blast and doesn't miss me nearly as much as I miss her! (she took my camera so that explains my lack of pictures) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My son throws shot put and disk for Track. He has been working extra hard at his disk throwing (is that what you call it???) Yesterday he had his personal best 109 feet and 10 inches and he qualified for Sectionals! I even received a text message from his sharing the news. Shocking I know! We are so proud of him and I know he will only continue to improve! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I can't leave out Makayla! She has been busy with lots of softball practices. It is so nice to kick her out of the house and not feel guilty because it is 20 degrees or colder, LOL. She is selling candy bars for cheer leading so if you need a chocolate fix, let us know! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am looking forward to the weekend! It should be busy and fun! Derby, baby shower and hopefully lots of painting as I am behind schedule. I have 3 pieces of furniture to finish painting, 8 signs to finish. Lets hope for a productive weekend!

Altered Life - Day 3

Well I survived Roller Derby last night. I really didn't know what to expect but of course everyone was really wonderful! Don't get me wrong it was HARD, very hard. All those months of going to the gym still didn't prepare me for how tired and sore my legs would be. Surprisingly today my legs are still a bit sore but not nearly as bad as I thought they would be. I need to work on everything, LOL. I am sure with practice, practice and more practice I will improve! We were timed skating 5 laps, (because we must skate 25 laps in about 5 minutes) it took me 1 minute 47 seconds. Definitely room for improvement! As hard as it was I am looking forward to Saturday already!

Altered Life - Day 2

So tonight begins the four week basic skating class, part of CNY Roller Derby. I am both excited and a bit nervous as I don't know what to expect. I can skate around the track, maybe not so gracefully yet so hopefully this will (I am sure it will) improve my skating. After these four weeks then we move onto a twelve week newbie class. It feels like forever since I first found out about Roller Derby in December, BUT it is finally beginning. I will fill you in tomorrow with all the details.

See I can skate a bit I am the one on the right, grey shirt and black pants.

This photo belongs to Walter Romero (Hispanic Attack)

Check out his Facebook with many fabulous Derby photos.

Altered Life - Day 1

I have had my blog, Signs of Obsession for some time now, don't get me wrong I am still painting away. Recently I decided I need a place where I can share everything. (I feel Signs of Obsession was more dedicated to my business, painting.) I will NOT delete Signs of Obsession and may actually update it here and there, you can always visit it for inspiration or looking for a custom sign. Altered Life will be about me and my ever changing (altering) life. My family, friends, my roller derby experience, painting, up-cycling everything wrapped up in a pretty bow, LOL!
